Etheridge Introduces Bill to Prevent Energy Market Manipulation and Excessive Speculation RALEIGH -- U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington)
today announced he has introduced legislation to help ensure that
sky-rocketing energy costs are not being caused by manipulation
and excessive speculation in energy markets. Etheridge is the Chair
of the Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management
of the House Agriculture Committee, which has jurisdiction over
the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the government agency
that is responsible for protecting the public from fraudulent practices
in commodity futures trading, including oil and gasoline.

Announces High School Juniors May Apply to Serve as a Page in House
of Representatives RALEIGH - U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) today
announced he will select a high school junior from the Second Congressional
District for nomination as a Congressional Page in the U.S. House
of Representatives for fall 2008. Juniors who live in the Second
District who will be at least 16 years old by August 31, have at
least a 3.0 academic grade point average in core subjects and are
U.S. citizens or green-card holders are invited to apply. Download
