| Congressman Faleomavaega is pleased to announce that
additional funds have been secured for the new $20 million U.S. Army Reserve
project soon to be underway in American Samoa. The extra funds are
strictly for the purpose of securing the 6-acre site at Pago Pago International
Airport.
“This is good news for American Samoa,” Congressman Faleomavaega
said. “These funds make it possible for the U.S. Army Reserve to
lease the 6-acre site at a fair-market rate. Once ASG and the U.S.
Army Reserve work out the terms of the agreement, we can all look forward
to the construction of our new Reserve center.”
According to Colonel Robert Lee, Commander of the 9th Regional Support
Command, the new facility will be approximately 40,000 square feet and
will include state of the art fiber optics and distance learning technology.
“We’ve designed a beautiful facility for American Samoa,” Colonel
Lee noted. “It’s our way of saying we’re honored to be a part of
the Samoan community.”
Congressman Faleomavaega thanked Colonel Lee for his contributions
and also noted that American Samoa can now look forward to renewed opportunity
and strengthened relations with the U.S. Army Reserve. |
