The 2008 BEACHWALK

beach walk 2008

The 24th Congressional district is home to nearly eighty miles of Florida's Coast line. This year I once again completed my beach walk which is like a walking town hall where I examine the coastline and meet with constituents in the district. Below, please find complete resources including photos, journal entries and maps. For previous years, click here to see the 2006 Beach Walk Home Page

Beach Walk Day 1

We started at Sun Plash Park in Daytona Beach at 10:45 and Channel 13 and Channel 9 joined us. We had supporters from the AARP and the Fair Tax Coalition walk with us for the first kick-off mile. Susan Hall arrived in her Fair Tax Mobile to walk the first mile with her "Thank You TOM" signs.

Our next stop was at Frank Rendon Park down to Bellemead Drive and the Dunlawton Beach Ramp with Vice Mayor Dr. Jennie Celona and Mayor Greg Northrop. Assistant City Manager Jim McCroskey and Lilli joined us to discuss federal funding for local projects in the area.

From Dunlawton to Heron Street, we were then joined by Jim Cameron with the Daytona Beach Chamber to discuss the economy and local business issues.

At 5:15 p.m. I held a Telephone Town Hall and dialed Volusia County residents from my Port Orange Office to discuss my beach walk progress and listen to questions from callers regarding taxes, Volusia schools, the border patrol agents, and the Berkeley City Council Marine Corps defamation.
