Tom Feeney Criticizes Costly Taxpayer Bailout Plan
(Washington, D.C.) - Tom Feeney (R-Oviedo), a member of the House Financial Services Committee, today offered sharp criticism of the liberal's irresponsible taxpayer bailout plan. H.R. 5830, the FHA Stabilization and Homeownership Retention Act puts taxpayer liability at $300 billion, not to mention the $2.7 billion price tag for implementation of the bill.

Tom Feeney to Honor Central Florida Student Artists on Saturday
(Oviedo, FL) - Tom Feeney (R-Oviedo) will announce the winner of the 2008 Congressional Art Competition on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach from 2-4 p.m. Over 125 high school students from Orange, Seminole, Brevard and Volusia counties submitted artwork for this year's contest. All entries will be showcased during the competition exhibit which will be followed by an awards reception where scholarships and prizes donated by local businesses will be presented to winning students.

Tom Feeney Applauds Passage of William F. Buckley Resolution
(Beijing, China) - Tom Feeney (R-Oviedo) applauded the passage of the William F. Buckley Resolution that he sponsored honoring an intellectual leader of conservatives for five decades. Tom Feeney thanks Rep. Mike Pence for speaking on his behalf during his absence on this important resolution while Tom attends the Global Space Summit in China.
"Today's passage of the William F. Buckley Resolution is a small thank you to a man who served as the intellectual leader of conservatives for five decades. William F. Buckley, Jr. was a true foot soldier, fighting successfully for the advancement of conservative principles. His consistent advocacy facilitated the rise of Senator Barry Goldwater and ultimately the presidency of Ronald Reagan.

Tom Feeney to Attend the First Global Space Development Summit in Beijing
(Oviedo, FL) - Ranking Member of the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Oviedo) today announced that he will attend the first Global Space Development Summit on April 23-25 in Beijing, China. The Summit, co-hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the Chinese Society of Astronautics will bring together top-level space agency, industry, and political leaders to explore policy and governance issues that could enhance space exploration.
As the only elected U.S. Representative, Rep. Tom Feeney will be the highest ranking U.S. Government official to attend the Global Space Development Summit. He will attend panels on Current Space Cooperation and Global Governance for a Second Space Age, and participate in a roundtable on the Policy Elements of Space Cooperation.
This unique, high profile event will also be an opportunity for Congressman Feeney to meet representatives of significant Chinese aerospace industries including the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) which is the defense entity that oversees the majority of China’s space and satellite development, and the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) which focuses more on rocket development and R&D.
International cooperation and international competition are both important topics for Florida’s Space Coast. Rep. Feeney said, "This Summit comes at an important time as China continues to rapidly develop its human spaceflight capabilities and challenge America's space preeminence. This is an exciting opportunity for me to interact with representatives of major spacefaring countries and explore to what extent we can cooperate or compete in the uses of space.
"Since I began my Congressional service, I have fought to retain America’s leadership in space. Effective and prudent international cooperation can enhance such leadership.
“The Summit will also provide insight into how America can strengthen its space programs – especially human spaceflight -- and increase operations on Florida’s Space Coast.”
Rep. Feeney will be joined by leaders from a broad spectrum of space organizations including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Russian Federal Space Agency (ROSCOSMOS), the European Space Agency (ESA), as well as the China National Space Administration (CNSA) and the (Chinese) State Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (COSTIND). Rep. Feeney will also be joined by elected representatives of America’s current space partners including legislators from the Japanese Diet and the French National Assembly.
