Visa Inquires:

My office regularly sends status inquires to U.S. Embassies for a variety of visas.  When requesting a status inquiry on a visa please provide my Brooklyn Office with documentation in writing which must include: your contact information (address & phone number); case numbers (if applicable) and Date of Birth(s); name and relationship to the individual(s); purpose of inquiry and/or visit; and any pertinent information, specifically regarding the individuals connections to their home country (only necessary if requesting visitor/student visa inquiry).  Please note that the most common reason for denial of a visitor/student visa is due to lack of strong enough financial, physical, and social ties to their home country.  The Embassies decisions are final and we have no power to supersede the Embassies’ authority.  My office can only provide the Embassy with whatever information you provide for us and ask them to take this into consideration.  Response time from the Embassies vary depending on that Embassy’s case volume.  If my office has not received a response from the Embassy in 45 days we can send a follow up request.  You may find the websites listed below helpful while preparing and while undergoing the Visa application process.

Passports:

In order to travel abroad you must obtain a United States Passport.  This document serves as proof of your citizenship and identity while overseas and when returning to the United States.  Passport applications must be submitted through the United States Department of State for approval and the process can take a number of weeks to complete, so please plan accordingly.    Also, when traveling outside the borders of the United States please remember that you are required to obey the local laws of the locality you are visiting.  It is also often helpful to know where the nearest United States Embassy or Consulate is in relation to where you are staying in case of emergencies.  The websites listed below will aid you in obtaining a passport application as well as help answer questions you may have about the process.  As always, please feel free to contact my office with questions.

International Travel:

Once again, it is important when traveling outside of the borders of the United States to remember that you are required to obey all local laws and regulations and may not be fully protected by the United States Constitution should you break a law in your host country.  It may also be helpful to note the location of the closest United States Embassy or Consulate to where you will be staying.  The United States Department of State provides the following websites for making finding this information easy, provide information on travel warnings, as well as providing assistance in the case of emergency while abroad.
