Frank Congratulates Patrick Administration for Major Step Forward
in Efforts to Bring Rail to the South Coast

Washington, DC – Congressman Barney Frank today issued the following statement regarding Governor Deval Patrick’s announcement that Massachusetts will buy the New Bedford-Fall River railroad line from CSXT. The purchase is a major step forward in plans to build a South Coast rail line connecting Fall River and New Bedford to Boston.
"I would like to congratulate Governor Patrick for this very positive step forward toward providing rail service to the South Coast. Governor Patrick’s administration is the first one to really move this project forward. In the months ahead, bringing rail to the Southcoast will be my top transportation priority."
