Frank's Colleagues Praise His Work on Fishing Issues

The following is a transcript of the debate on the House floor.

Representative Elijah Cummings is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

Congressman James Oberstar is the Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.


REP CUMMINGS: The one thing I did want to say and I know the Chairman of the committee will agree with me, I must give a loft credit to Congressman Barney Frank who worked tirelessly on these issues. I know I have had at least ten to twelve conversations with him. I know he's met with the Chairman, and I just wanted to make sure that we gave him credit because he has championed this like nobody I have ever known. I just want to say that. I yield back to the Gentleman.

REP OBERSTAR: I thank the gentleman for pointing that out. The gentleman from Massachusetts, Mr. Frank, has been a vigorous advocate for his fishing community which are largely Portuguese immigrants of long ancestry. He really has been a strong advocate….
