Gallegly votes for American jobs

WASHINGTON, DC—Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-CA) today voted to repeal the health care bill passed in the last Congress. His statement:

“America deserves and demands health care reform that lowers premiums and increases access to health insurance without raising taxes, increasing federal spending and destroying American jobs.

“The health care bill passed in the last Congress is the worst of all worlds. It has resulted in higher premiums and will increase taxes and federal spending. It has stifled job growth in a suffering economy and, according to a study by the National Federation of Independent Businesses, the employer mandate alone could lead to the elimination of 1.6 million jobs, with 66 percent of those coming from small businesses.

“America cannot afford higher taxes, more federal spending and the destruction of jobs. We need to start over on health care reform and do it right. The vote to repeal the current law is a step in that direction.”
