Video Log: Fair Compensation for Metrolink Victims• Rep. Gallegly and Mackenzie Souser testify—March 17, 2011 – Rep. Elton Gallegly and Mackenzie Souser, 15, of Camarillo, CA, testified before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Subcommittee on Rail, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials, in Washington, D.C., on the aftermath of the fatal Sept. 12, 2008, Metrolink crash in Chatsworth, CA. Twenty-five people were killed in the crash – including Mackenzie’s father – and at least 135 severely injured. Veolia Transportation, a French company who employed the engineer that the NTSB determined caused the crash, is only willing to award the victims collectively $200 million, even though real damages in lost wages, medical bills, etc., are estimated at about $600 million. The first three videos are from the committee hearing. The fourth video is KCAL/KCBS’ coverage of the hearing. Related content: Key Issue: Fair Compensation for Metrolink Victims. |
