This page provides answers to Frequently Asked Questions on Housing to help you resolve concerns with federal agencies on your own.

However if you still need help after reviewing this information, contact my Camarillo or Solvang office and my staff will open a case and we will act as your liaison with the appropriate federal agency.

Question: I am having trouble paying my mortgage, where can I find assistance?

Answer: If you have been unable to work out an agreement with your lender, contact HOPE NOW, which is an alliance between counselors, mortgage companies, investors, and other mortgage market participants that tries to help homeowners in distress stay in their homes. HOPE NOW can also be reached at 1-888-995-HOPE (4673).

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) also maintains a list of approved housing counseling agencies that offer free, or low-cost, services for foreclosures, buying, renting, defaults, credit issues and reverse mortgages.

You may also want to review the HUD guide with information on how to avoid foreclosure.

Also, please check the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) website for information on how to avoid foreclosure scams
