Moore Announces More Than $3.5M in Recovery Act Capital Improvement Funds for Milwaukee Health Centers
(Washington, DC)— Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.) today announced that four Milwaukee health centers will receive investments totaling more than $3.5 million in Recovery Act Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Grants. These funds will go to the 16th Street Community Health Center, Health Care for the Homeless of Milwaukee, Milwaukee Health Services, and Westside Healthcare Association.

Moore Provisions For Menomonee Valley Included In House-Passed Interior, Environment Appropriations Bill
(Washington, DC)— A provision secured by Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.) to benefit the Menomonee Valley was included in the fiscal year 2010 Department of the Interior and Environment Appropriations Act that passed the House of Representatives today. Menomonee Valley Partners will receive $300,000 to support their ongoing efforts to construct the Hank Aaron State Trail, a part of the larger Urban Forestry Project that is transforming the Menomonee River Valley into a business and environmentally-friendly community. Specifically, these funds would be used to purchase native trees, shrubs and grasses for a major segment of the Hank Aaron State Trail that runs along 2,000 feet of the Menomonee River.

Moore Announces Nearly $97K in Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students at Marquette University, Alverno College
(Washington, DC)— Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.) today announced that Marquette University and Alverno College will receive $53,787 and $42,826 respectively for Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students. At Marquette University, these gift funds will go to students who are pursuing degrees in dentistry and physical therapy. Funds for Alverno College will go toward nursing scholars. These grants are being awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services.
