Congresswoman Gwen Moore speaks about her participation in a day of fasting in solidarity with the people of Darfur as part of the DARFUR FAST FOR LIFE. From sunup to sundown on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 she will only consume water.
On April 27, 2009, actress Mia Farrow and a group of activists began a worldwide fasting chain to express outrage over the worlds inaction after 13 aid organizations were expelled from Sudan by Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir. Because the aid organizations were forced to leave, 1.1 million innocent civilians were left without basic access to food, water and medicine, putting them in danger of disease, starvation and death.
