Harman & Nakano Present New Flags To Vandalized Senior Center

-- Offices Work Together Closely To Serve Community --

MANHATTAN BEACH - Congresswoman Harman and California State Assemblyman George Nakano (D-Torrance) today presented residents of a local senior citizen center with an American and California State flag.

The two new flags, which have respectively flown over the U.S. and California capitols, replace one that was destroyed stolen when the Ross Manhattan Terrace Seniors Center recently fell victim to vandalism.

After the terrorist attacks of 9/11, the residents of Ross Manhattan Terrance senior’s housing complex proudly displayed their patriotism by flying flags in front of their residence. Vandals later stole the California flag, although the U.S. flag remained intact. Working with the offices of Congresswoman. Harman and Assemblyman Nakano, the residents While visiting the center, a Harman aide learned of the theft.

“I am sorry that such vandalism occurred in the South Bay, especially in the wake of the surge in patriotism since September 11,” said Harman.

“The story of Ross Manhattan Terrace demonstrates the best in government when Jane Harman’s office and mine can work closely together to serve our community,” added Nakano.

In addition to presenting Ross Manhattan Terrace with new flags, Harman updated the residents on her most recent activities on issues of Homeland Security, Medicare and Social Security, and Nakano updated the group on the state budget situation.
