WASHINGTON D.C. - Congresswoman Harman today welcomed Christine Costa of Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, the Grand Prize Finalist of the 21st annual Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery. This annual competition is designed to spotlight the artistic talents of high school students across the nation. Christine Costa's oil painting entitled "Salute to America" is now on display as part of a national exhibition in the pedestrian walkway leading to the United States Capitol. Christine and her family came to Washington, DC, to tour the U.S. Capitol, meet other Artistic Discovery winners, and participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony opening the exhibition. "All of the students who entered the competition displayed both great talent and insight into how the memory of the attacks deeply affects America. I am so proud of them for capturing the strong sense of patriotism in the South Bay as our nation wages a difficult war on terrorism," stated Harman when the art competition winners were announced in a ceremony last month in Manhattan Beach, CA. |
