Homeland Security Begins At Home - Seniors Forum Provides Guidance

TORRANCE - Today Congresswoman Jane Harman, Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Subcommittee on Terrorism and Homeland Security, convened a forum, at the Torrance Salvation Center at 4223 Emerald St., for seniors to meet local "first responders" in the event of a terrorist emergency and to learn how to be prepared.

Speakers included key representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the L.A. County Emergency Medical Services, and the City of Torrance Department of Emergency Service.

"Californians know what to do in the event of an earthquake-we have been educated. Unfortunately, we live at a time when citizens also must know what to do in the event of a terrorist attack. There is a lot of fear among seniors, and fear breeds panic. We in government must help citizens get prepared." Harman stated.
