Representative Harman Cleans The Beach With School Children
"I live on the beach and enjoy the beauty of our
coast
we all have a responsibility to help keep it clean. I am thrilled
to be out here with South Bay school children to do just that."
Manhattan Beach - Today Rep. Harman joined 1200 South Bay elementary
school children at Heal the Bay's Annual Coastal Cleanup Event. Together
they picked up trash from the Dockweiler State Beach on Vista del Mar
as part of this South Bay environmental clean up effort.
"My family and I live on the beach and I enjoy the beauty of our
coast on early morning runs," said Harman.
"I love the beach and we all have a responsibility to help keep
it clean. I am thrilled to be out here with South Bay school children
to do just that."
Congresswoman Harman received a 100% rating from both the Sierra Club
and the League of Conservation Voters for her record on environmental
issues. Her recent actions include votes to prohibit oil and gas drilling
in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) as well as along the California
Coast.
"We're looking for 10,000 people to help us clean the beaches this
year," stated Mark Gold, Executive Director of Heal
the Bay. "We've invited everyone-schools, community groups, businesses,
families and ocean lovers-to help pitch in and cleanup the environment
on California Coastal Cleanup Day."
