Rep. Harman To Open New District Offices
In Wilmington And El Segundo

Redondo Beach - Rep. Harman today announced the opening of new district offices in Wilmington and El Segundo to better serve the newly redrawn 36th Congressional District which she will represent in January.

“Redondo Beach has been extremely gracious to my staff and me for the past two years,” said Harman. “We loved our home in the Tech Center building and greatly appreciate the warmth and friendship of the elected officials, business leaders and citizens of this outstanding South Bay town.

“Redistricting has changed the shape and size of the 36th Congressional District and our new office locations will best serve all of our constituents. With this exciting move we will be co-located with L.A. Councilwoman Janice Hahn in Wilmington - a vibrant new part of the 36th Congressional District, made up of hard-working families, many of whom have lived there for generations.”

Scheduled to open in early January, Harman’s new office will be located in the Wilmington Municipal Building at 544 N. Avalon Blvd.

“I welcome Congresswoman Harman to the Wilmington Municipal Building and I am pleased to take yet another step toward making government more accessible to the people of our communities,” said Hahn. “I look forward to working closely with the Congresswoman to improve the quality of life for the Wilmington community.”

“Our spirits have been lifted with the news that Rep. Jane Harman will have an office here in Wilmington,” said Michael Ponce, an ILWU leader and a member of a longtime Wilmington family. “The community looks forward to a brighter future and new improvements with Harman here.”

When he heard of Harman’s plans to relocate to Wilmington, Charlie Rico, Former President of Lions Club International said: “It's great. It's a plus and will allow us immediate contact.”

Harman also stated: “When I was elected to Congress a decade ago, my first district office was in Torrance City Hall. This new office carries on that tradition - making it easy for constituents to access different levels of government in one place. Councilwoman Hahn has been terrific in welcoming us with open arms to the Municipal building. From there it will be easy to participate in Wilmington traditions like breakfast at Maya’s and holiday parades.”

In the redistricting that occurred following the 2000 Census, the 36th Congressional District stretches further to the north and southeast, including Wilmington, Lennox, Mar Vista, parts of Palms, parts of West Los Angeles and Sawtelle. The District will still include Venice, Marina del Rey, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, San Pedro and Harbor City/Harbor Gateway.

Congresswoman Harman will also open a second district office in El Segundo at 2321 Rosecrans Blvd., Suite 3270.
