HARMAN ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Jane Harman (D-Venice) announced the award of a nearly $300,000 grant for early childhood education programs at Los Angeles Harbor College. The grant will fund continuing education courses for early childhood education professionals and will stress the importance of preparing preschool aged children for success in school. The four courses funded by the grant will focus on early literacy, math readiness, socialization and childcare safety.

"Studies have clearly demonstrated the importance of high quality early childhood education," said Congresswoman Harman. "This grant will provide valuable training and ultimately improve the quality of early childhood education in South Bay communities."
