Directions to Hearing Room

The House Armed Services Committee is located in the Rayburn House Office Building, across Independence Avenue from the United States Capitol. Limited short-term and metered parking is available on streets in the area, and pay-by-the-hour parking is available in a lot at 501 South Capitol Street - just a few blocks from the Rayburn House Office Building. The main entrance to the building, which is also a wheelchair accessible entrance, is located on South Capitol Street. Please see the following directions and maps (click on maps for larger versions) for additional information.

METRO: The closest Metro stop to the Rayburn House Office Building is the "Capitol South" on the Orange and Blue Lines. The escalator is located on First Street between C and D Streets. To reach the Rayburn House Office Building, turn left on First Street, left on C Street, and right on South Capitol Street. The entrance to the Rayburn House Office Building is on the left.

Driving from the SOUTH: Take Interstate 395 North to the exit for "C Street SW, US Capitol, The House." Stay in the left lane of the exit, which will leave the highway and intersect with Washington Avenue and C Street at a stop light. Go straight through the light onto C Street SE, and then take a right onto South Capitol SE. Continue on South Capitol through several lights. Just after you pass Virginia Ave SE, there is public parking on the right at 501 South Capitol SE, directly underneath the freeway. Cost is $5 daily, but subject to change.  Limited short-term and metered parking is available in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Driving from the WEST: Take Independence Avenue East towards the United States Capitol. To reach the pay-by-the-hour parking lot, turn right on South Capitol Street. Continue on South Capitol through several lights. Just after you pass Virginia Ave SE, there is public parking on the right at 501 South Capitol SE, directly underneath the freeway. Cost is $5 daily, but subject to change.  Limited short-term and metered parking is available in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Driving from the EAST: Take East Capitol Street West towards the United States Capitol. Turn left on First Street, turn right at the second light onto D Street. Then turn left onto South Capitol SE. After several lights, you will pass Virginia Ave SE, there is public parking on the right at 501 South Capitol SE, directly underneath the freeway. Cost is $5 daily, but subject to change.  Limited short-term and metered parking is available in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Driving from the NORTH: From Interstate 95, go south on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. At the Kenilworth Avenue/New York Avenue split, bear left to stay on Kenilworth Avenue (I-295). Take exit for "Downtown" at East Capitol Street. Follow East Capitol Street towards the U.S. Capitol. To reach the pay-by-the-hour parking lot, turn left on First Street. Continue three blocks, turn right on D Street. Then turn left onto South Capitol SE. After several lights, you will pass Virginia Ave SE, there is public parking on the right at 501 South Capitol SE, directly underneath the freeway. Cost is $5 daily, but subject to change.  Limited short-term and metered parking is available in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Directions to House Armed Services Committee Hearing Rooms

The House Armed Services Committee generally conducts its hearings in three rooms: 2118, 2212, and 2216, all in the Rayburn House Office Building. Room 2118 is located on the first floor of the building, and Room 2212 and Room 2216 are located on the second floor. Building maps are located on each floor near the entrances and elevators.
