Established in 1996, the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area now covers 11 counties in New York: Saratoga, Albany, Rensselaer, Greene, Columbia, Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester.
The Heritage area includes over 250 communities and over three million acres of Hudson Highlands, Catskill Mountains, towns, villages, hamlets and farmland. The region extends from the convergence of the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers, south to the northern border of New York City.
