Net Neutrality: The Effects of Internet Regulation on Competition, Innovation, and Nondiscriminatory Access

The Future of American Media (FAM) Caucus held a briefing on Net Neutrality July 19, 2007. The issue of net neutrality, and whether legislation is needed to ensure access to broadband networks and services, has become a major focal point in the debate over telecommunications reform. After the issue reached a fever pitch during consideration of telecommunications reform during the 109th Congress, the Federal Communication Commission decided to study and evaluate whether its broadband policies and principles effectively addressed the concerns surrounding net neutrality. Panelists for this debate included: Markham Erickson, Open Internet Coalition; Peter G. Jacoby, AT&T; Ben Scott, Free Press; and Wayne Brough from FreedomWorks.
