Hinchey Statement On GAO's Decision
To Uphold Lockheed Martin's Protest Of
Combat Search & Rescue Helicopter Contract Award To Boeing

Washington, DC - Congressman Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) today released the following statement in response to the U.S. Government Accountability Office's (GAO) decision to uphold Lockheed Martin's protest of the Air Force's contract award to Boeing for a combat search and rescue helicopter.

"I am very pleased that the GAO has fulfilled its responsibility and produced a determination and recommendation about the CSAR-X contract that is based on solid facts.  The GAO's decision puts Lockheed Martin back in the game.  While it does not assure Lockheed Martin of the contract, it helps ensure a level playing field as the Air Force reviews contract bids this time around.  Given that Lockheed Martin is a superior company with extraordinary leadership and employees who are very energetic and capable, I am confident that they are in a strong position to win the contract.

"I expect the Air Force to take the GAO's recommendations very seriously and act on them.  Doing so will allow the maker of the best helicopter, which should be Lockheed Martin, to win the bid and provides our Air Force personnel with the best product available.  Today's development is very good news and I will be carefully monitoring the developments and assisting Lockheed Martin in any way possible."
