Inslee Nominates First District Students to Service Academies

31 January 2005

U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee announced today that he has nominated twenty-five Washington State students to the United States service academies for the U.S. Air Force, Merchant Marines, Military and Navy. Each member of Congress is allotted a limited number of nominations, which they may submit for consideration of an appointment by the academy to fill vacancies at each institution. To be nominated by U.S. Rep. Inslee, applicants must be interviewed by a panel at Inslee's office that includes graduates from the different service academies.

"This year's nominees are a talented and bright group of individuals who possess the leadership qualities needed to serve our country," said Inslee. "It is an honor to nominate these local students based on their many merits and their potential to serve as gracious role models through military duty."

The following is a list of Inslee's nominations, including each nominee's high school and home town. The nomination process is highly competitive and a nomination does not guarantee an appointment or an offer of admission, but any student applying to an academy must be nominated by a Member of Congress or the President.
