Inslee calls on Interior to allow open dialogue on global warming

8 March 2007

In response to reports that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is prohibiting its arctic scientists from discussing global warming and impacts on polar bears, U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality and advocate of listing polar bears as a threatened species, today sent a letter to the Interior Department. In it, he calls on the Bush Administration to implement a policy of open dialogue and requested a briefing on specifics of rules implemented or briefings given to U.S. officials regarding their discussions on climate change, polar bears and sea ice.
