Inslee on reinstatement of the roadless rule

20 September 2006

U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee, a member of the House Resources Committee and leader of efforts in the House to restore protections for national forests, made the following statement on the decision of a California judge to reinstate a Clinton-era ban on road construction and logging in almost 60 million acres of federal land:

"Pristine forests are national heirlooms that should belong to all Americans, not special interests. Thanks to the courts today, they're back in the hands of a grateful people who have an obligation to preserve them for generations to come."
