Inslee Forum: U.S. Intelligence on Iraq
Is There a Need for a Congressional Investigation? A look at the information given to Americans and leading to the war in Iraq
U.S. Representative Jay Inslee held a community forum and discussion of events regarding the intelligence that led to the war in Iraq on Thursday, August 21st. More than 1100 people attended the free event, which was held at the Shoreline Conference Center.

The discussion focused on the gathering, interpretation, and distribution of intelligence on Iraq by the Bush administration prior to the start of the war, which information was shared with the public, and policy implications for the future of U.S. security and international relations. U.S. Rep. Inslee led a panel discussion by policy experts, which was followed by public comments. The expert panel members included Ambassador Joseph Wilson, Admiral Bill Center, and Professor Brewster Denny.They focused their dicussion on how intelligence agencies investigated and interpreted the intelligence on Iraq, and the extent and manner to which such information was shared with the American people. Public comments and testimony were heard, including comments on the advisability of a bipartisan Congressional commission to investigate intelligence failures.
U.S. Rep. Inslee is currently a cosponsor of legislation to create a bipartisan independent commission to conduct an inquiry about intelligence failures on Iraq (H.R. 2625). To learn more about this legislation, click here.
