Caseworker Mission Statement
On behalf of U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee, we will serve as powerful advocates for our constituents.
Why We Do Casework:
Casework is based in law.
As the population has grown and as the government has enlarged in scope and complexity an increasing number of citizens find it more difficult to obtain redress by direct communication with administrative agencies. As a result, the individual turns increasingly to his most proximate connection with the government, his representative in Congress, as evidenced by the fact that congressional offices devote more time to constituent requests than to any other single duty.
House Ethics Committee 1970, from CRS Report for Congress: Casework in a Congressional Office.
Casework makes good sense.
Excellence in providing service strengthens the bond between and forges a closer, friendlier relationship with our constituents and the Congressman.
How We Do Casework: Policies & Practices
- Act in partnership with our constituents to resolve their cases.
- Advocate for our constituents to gain the benefit of every available process and fair treatment in every situation. Remember, we can not direct an agency to take a particular action.
- Provide expert referral service for non-federal matters.
