Internships in Washington state's 1st Congressional District
Job description
Interns will learn about all aspects of a congressional district office. Responsibilities include written and verbal communication with constituents and government agencies, policy research, constituent outreach, casework and general administrative duties. The interests and qualifications of each intern will determine his/her specific responsibilities.
Compensation
This is an unpaid position, however, you may receive academic credit for your internship. Interns will gain hands-on experience with the legislative process, constituent services and a greater understanding of federal politics.
Internship length
Interns must commit to working for a minimum of 15-20 hours a week for a 3 month period. Extensions can be arranged through the intern coordinator.
Qualifications
Interns must be enrolled in college, preferably in their junior year or above. They must have excellent written and verbal skills. Applicants from the 1st Congressional District and Washington state will be given priority.
