Interest High in Wednesday's IMF Reform Hearing

      WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Wednesday's hearing on proposals to reform the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is generating a lot of interest. Media representatives are advised to call the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) at 202/224-0379 to reserve space.

      Professor Charles Calomiris of Columbia University and Dr. Jacob Frenkel, Governor of the Bank of Israel and former IMF Research Director will discuss proposals for fundamental IMF reforms.

      "These knowledgeable witnesses ensure a provocative, in-depth analysis and a stimulating exchange of views on the latest ideas to reform the IMF and the international financial system," Saxton said.
