FDR MemorialFranklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial – I proudly served as a Commissioner and Advisor to the FDR Memorial.  The memorial is located at 900 Ohio Dr., S.W., near the Jefferson Memorial and the Potomac River. There are park rangers available from 8 a.m. to midnight every day except Christmas Day. Telephone: (202) 426-6841.

Abraham LincolnLincoln Memorial – West Potomac Park at the foot of 23rd Street, N.W. Open 24 hours daily. Telephone: (202) 426-6895.

Thomas Jefferson Memorial – South bank of the Tidal Basin.  Open 24 hours daily.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial – Henry Bacon Drive and Constitution Avenue, N.W. Open 24 hours daily.

Washington MonumentThe Washington Monument –  On the Mall at 15th Street, N.W.  Open daily April through Labor Day from 8:00 a.m. to midnight.  September through March from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are required. They are free and available at the booth located on the west side of 15th Street, N.W., on the Mall.

Korean War Veterans Memorial – The memorial is staffed from 8 a.m. to midnight every day except December 25 by park rangers who are available to answer questions. A bookstore in the nearby Lincoln Memorial sells informational items relating to both the memorial and the Korean War.

Holocaust MuseumHolocaust Museum – Pass distribution begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Ticket Desk at the 14th Street entrance on a first-comefirst-served basis. Tours are given from 10:00 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. (until 6:45 p.m. on Thursday). For more information call (202) 488-0400.

Smithsonian– The museums are open daily, except Christmas, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Air and Space from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.). Extended summer hours are determined annually. For more information call (202) 357-2020.

National Zoo – Located at 3001 Connecticut Avenue, N.W. near the Woodley Park Metro. From May 1 to September 15, the Zoo is open 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the animal rooms open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. From September 16 through April 30, the Zoo is open 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with the animal rooms open from 10:00 to 4:30 p.m. unless otherwise posted. National Gallery of Art – Sixth Street and Constitution Avenue, N.W. Open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday from noon to 9:00 p.m. Sunday concerts are held at 7:00 p.m. in the East Garden Court from October through June.

Ford’s Theatre and Lincoln Museum – 511 10th Street, N.W.  Open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the exception of Christmas. For more information call (202) 426-6924.

Folger Shakespeare Library – The Folger is located at 201 East Capitol Street, S.E., one block from the Capitol. Free tours are regularly scheduled, with no prior arrangement necessary. The Library is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
