Dear Constituent:
Thank you for expressing your opposition to imposing charges on e-mail
transmissions. I agree with you totally. I am absolutely opposed to
such a fee, and am pleased to inform you that there are no bills or
proposals, to implement this in Congress.
Many Internet users received a chain letter claiming that Congress
and the United States Postal Service were currently considering proposals
to charge individuals for each electronic message (e-mail) they send.
The letter mentions that legislation, 602P, would impose this fee. There
is no such bill. Furthermore, I would strongly oppose any attempt to
impose a charge on e-mail transmissions.
For your information, the Department of Energy has a website that
posts information about hoaxes, viruses and other computer security
issues. You can access this website at http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/
You may also be interested to know that, according to the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC), they do not intend to impose per-minute usage charges
on consumer access to Internet service providers. Should you require
any additional information you may want to visit the FCC Web Site at:

Thank you for sharing your concerns with me. You may be assured that
should any proposal be introduced, I would strongly oppose imposing
charges on e-mail transmission. Please do not hesitate to contact me
whenever I may be assistance to you.
Sincerely,
Dale E. Kildee, M. C.
