Colonel Hallem was in Washington, D.C., to receive a promotion to full Colonel in a ceremony at the Pentagon on November 2, 2005. Colonel Hallem made two deployments with the 15th and 11th Special Operations Marine Expeditionary Units and participated in Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Currently, he is the Director of the Crisis Response Center, Marine Corps Operations Center, at the Pentagon in Washington and is also a commercial airline pilot for Northwest Airlines.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Metro Housing Partnership donated over $400,000 to help build 11 new homes and rehabilitate six other homes in the Genesee County area. The Genesee County Habitat for Humanity will also build five new homes in the area.

Kildee joined a bipartisan group of over 30 House members and leaders from a wide array of agricultural, manufacturing, labor, environmental, human rights and Central American groups to urge Congress to reject the agreement. Kildee called specific attention to the pact’s harmful provisions which would devastate Michigan’s sugar industry.
