The Congressional Sportsman's Caucus today called on the House Leadership to support full funding for federal conservation programs. Rep. Dale E. Kildee (D-Flint) joined 57 of his colleagues as a cosigner of letter asking for full funding.
The bipartisan letter, sponsored by the Caucus, specifically supports the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), the Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP), the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP), the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA), and the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).
"I am pleased to work with my colleagues in an effort to secure full funding for these important conservation programs," said Kildee. "These programs help preserve our precious natural resources for future generations, and they ensure that sportsmen, conservationists, and other citizens have great open spaces to enjoy."
The conservation programs allow cooperative efforts between agencies and private landowners to protect and restore wildlife habitat while maintaining productive use of agricultural land. Hunters, anglers, environmentalists, conservationists, and farmers throughout the country support these programs.
