Congressman Dale Kildee (D-MI) has placed a friendly wager on the Michigan State Spartans basketball team as they march toward a national championship in Indianapolis. The Spartans play the Wisconsin Badgers in the NCAA Final Four on Saturday. Kildee placed the wager with Congressman Ron Kind (D-WI) a fervent Badger fan.
When the Spartans win, the Congressman and his staff will be treated to a lunch of Wisconsin products, including Wisconsin cheese and bratwurst. If Wisconsin wins, Kildee will provide Angelo's Coney Island hot dogs, Vernors ginger ale and Michigan cherry pie. In addition, the losing Congressman will have to wear the winning team jersey at the payoff reception.
Kildee, who represents the Flint area, expressed his confidence in the MSU Spartans. "Led by the 'Flintstones', this Michigan State team is a team of destiny," Kildee stated. "I could not be prouder of these young men from Flint," Kildee added. "They have brought a new sense of spirit to our community and our State. Their efforts against Syracuse and Iowa State have shown us what hard work, determination and a will to win can accomplish. We look forward to watching the Spartans bring the national championship trophy home to Michigan and collecting Wisconsin products from Congressman Kind's office."
