Public Service Announcements Urge Teenagers to be Sober on Prom Night

Deerfield, IL – Congressman Mark Kirk (R-Highland Park) and his Student Leadership Advisory Board joined Comcast Cable at Deerfield High School Friday to record Public Service Announcements urging teenagers to be safe and sober on Prom night.

“With Prom season fast approaching, it is important for students to hear from their class leaders that they can have a good time at the dance without abusing alcohol or drugs,” said Kirk. “With the message of staying safe on Prom night coming from junior class presidents of our local high schools, we have a better chance of kids being responsible this Prom season.”

Kirk’s Student Leadership Advisory Board is made up of junior class presidents of each high school in the 10th district. The board was formed in 2001 to give young leaders from our high schools a chance to work with Congressman Kirk and to discuss important issues facing Tenth District teenagers.

The Public Service Announcements will run on Comcast cable networks throughout the Tenth District starting in May.
