Larsen Commends Navy League for 100 Years of Supporting the U.S. Navy |
|
| Washington, D.C. – Last
night the U.S. House of Representatives congratulated the Navy League of
the United States, and its members, on 100 years as “the foremost civilian
organization dedicated to supporting the United States sea services.”
“I commend the Navy League of the United States for their years of service. The Navy League is proof positive that when you join the U.S. Navy, you join a community.” Larsen said. “When our communities are stronger, our Navy is stronger,” he added. The resolution takes note of the contributions of the Navy League’s 77,000 active members. Particularly noted were the Navy League’s contribution to youth, through its sponsorship of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps and the Navy League Scholarship Program. Additionally, the Resolution commended the Navy League for its contributions
to the active duty sea services, through the adoption of naval vessels,
installations and units. Also mentioned was the Navy League’s contribution
to hosting activities such as commissioning ceremonies, awards programs,
and other recognition programs.
Larsen serves on the U.S. House Committee on Armed Services and the
Military Readiness Subcommittee. Larsen recently attended the commissioning
of the U.S.S. Shoup (DDG86), where he was introduced as “the Navy’s Congressman.”
