Veterans Issues

Throughout history veterans have showed selfless commitment to this nation in service and sacrifice.  I believe Congress must demonstrate its commitment to our veterans.  As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I have dedicated myself to addressing the needs of America's veterans and the women and men in the armed forces.

Here is what I have done to support our nation's veterans:

• I have led the fight for fair compensation for our disabled veterans and have voted to secure for veterans the retirement pay they have earned. I will continue to work to rectify this injustice.
• I voted to increase VA health care funding in order to properly meet our veterans' needs in a timely fashion.
• I have worked and voted to expand services and benefits for veterans and survivors.
• I continue to fight for the women and men who are currently in our armed services. This includes voting for back-to-back pay raises, reducing housing expenses, and increasing funding for other quality-of-life improvements.
