As the father of two daughters and a former women’s basketball coach, Congressman Larson has a long history of advocating for equal opportunities for women in our nation’s schools.

On April 28, 2003, Congressman Larson held a forum to discuss the impact of Title IX and the report issued by the Secretary of Education’s Commission on Opportunity in Athletics.  Participating in the forum were: Robin Sheppard, Associate Athletic Director for Trinity College; Pat Meiser-McKnett, Athletic Director of the University of Hartford; Leslie Brett, Executive Director of the State’s permanent Commission on the Status of Women; Gale Lackey, Associate Director of Athletics for Wesleyan University.
