Service Academy Nominations

Return to Students

To be considered for an appointment to one of the United States Service Academies, an applicant must receive a nomination from an authorized nominating source. As a Member of Congress, it has always been my distinct pleasure to nominate students from the 12th Congressional District to the Academies.

In order for me to consider nominating a student to the Academies, they must meet certain eligibility requirements mandated by federal law.

Eligibility Requirements by Federal Law

  • Must be at least 17 years of age, but not yet 23 years old on July 1 of the year the applicant would enter an academy (25 years old for USMMA)

  • A citizen of the United States
  • Unmarried, and without legal obligation to support any children or dependents
  • A resident of the 12th Congressional District.

Basic Information and Questions

Any students interested in applying for a nomination should contact my Service Academy Coordinator at my district office in Roseville, Michigan at (586) 498-7122 or (248) 968-2025 to receive an application in the mail or for any additional questions.

Students who contact my district office, will receive a packet in the mail containing the application, an information sheet outlining items that need to be submitted, and an overview of the nomination process. You can also print out an application by clicking here.

Applicants must also open an application file with the Academies. To start the application process with the Academy of your interest, please visit the following websites:
