Congressional Page Program

Return to Students

The Congressional Page Program is both a 3 Week Summer Program and a 1 Semester School-Year Program. It offers an opportunity for 16 and 17 year old, high school juniors to live and breathe government. Pages are challenged academically when they attend school in the attic of the Library of Congress at the U.S. House of Representatives Page School. Pages serve their main purpose when working on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. Jobs range from clerical work to aiding essential offices in daily congressional undertakings. Their experience is rounded out with the community aspect of living in a dorm with other Pages on Capitol Hill and having the opportunity to reside in Washington D.C.

How to Apply
  • Must meet all of the requirements:
    • Must be 16 years old by the beginning of the Page term
    • Students who have just completed their high school sophomore or junior year.
  • Submit a completed Democratic Page Application
    • Essay
    • Signed Student Consent Form (Requirements for Being a Page)
    • Signed Declaration of "Parental Consent" Form
    • 3 Letters of Recommendations from school officials, community or religious leaders

*At this time our office is not nominating any Pages for the upcoming session. Please check back for when a nomination becomes available.

Personal Stories

My name is Lianna Stroster and I was Congressman Sander Levin’s Page from the fall of 2007 to the spring of 2008. I feel incredibly lucky for having the chance to be a part of the Congressional Page Program! I worked at the most exciting place in the entire world: experiencing a rare secret session of Congress, standing on the House floor for the State of the Union, attending Congressional Gold Medal Ceremonies, and hearing Foreign Heads of State speak to joint sessions of Congress. The advice that I would give to anyone thinking of applying is that it is the BEST way to see our government in action! It required a lot out of me, but the program gave it all back and ten-fold in the doors it opened up for me. I made friendships that will last a lifetime and memories that will never fade.
