The "Help is Here Express" bus- a traveling enrollment center to help the uninsured or underinsured get prescription coverage- will roll into Columbia Wednesday.

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance and U.S. Rep. Lincoln Davis, D-Pall Mall, have joined forces to aid those without adequate prescription drug coverage by offering assistance in finding the right prescription plan.

The bus, equipped with computer terminals and mobile phones, will be parked outside Maury Regional Medical Plaza from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday. There will be assistants on board to help sort through the process of eligibility for any of the 475 prescription programs available.

Davis will also be on hand to provide assistance and answer questions. This regional event is one of three being held across the 4th Congressional District. The other stops on the bus tour include Crossville and Winchester.

"I hope many of my constituents, who may find themselves uninsured or underinsured, look to this service to help meet their health care needs," Davis said.

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance brings together America's patient advocacy organizations, pharmaceutical companies, doctors and community groups to help patients who lack prescription drug coverage get free or nearly free brand name medicines.

Tom Hayden, press secretary for Davis, said the congressman views health care as a top priority. He advised participants bring the names of their prescription medications and information on healthcare plans enrolled in presently or previously to help them find the appropriate plan for eligibility that fits their budget and needs.
