Davis Lends Support In Fight Against Meth April 09, 2003

-- U.S. Rep. Lincoln Davis (TN-4), a member of the congressional caucus to Fight and Control Methamphetamine, has joined a bi-partisan group of members in sending a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense in support of the efforts of the National Guard to fight illegal drugs.

The National Guard often works hand in hand with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in the war on drugs. They provide support through their trained personnel and available military resources including thermal imaging, intelligence analysis, and specialized vehicles. The National Guard also supports five schools that teach counter-drug related skills.

"The production and use of meth has skyrocketed in recent years," Davis said. "The National Guard has proved to be valuable resource in our fight to rid society of this highly addictive menace."

"My hope is that we can provide our dedicated law enforcement officers with the tools they need to succeed in the war on meth."
