Congressman Davis Warmly Received By TVEC June 03, 2003

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Rep. Lincoln Davis, met last week with membership from the Tennessee Valley Economic Coalition (TVEC) during the annual Tennessee Valley Corridor technology and economic development summit held in Huntsville, Alabama. The purpose of the TVEC meeting was to provide a forum for Congressman Davis to talk with representatives from several southern Middle Tennessee counties about current and future science and technology related initiatives.

"The TVEC region has the necessary infrastructure and educated workforce already in place to help the United States in the science, aerospace, defense, and automotive industries," Davis said. "I look forward to working with TVEC, the local Chambers, industrial development partners, and local, state, and federal representatives to promote this area."

"I am very excited about the possibilities for growth and development in the TVEC region, which will further strengthen our image and role in the new economy. Through this expansion and development we can expect job growth and economic stimulus."

TVEC is a nine-county regional economic development coalition comprised of Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Lincoln, Marion, Moore, Rutherford and Warren Counties. TVEC is working to leverage the science and technology capabilities of the region to grow and attract the new economy jobs of the future.

Congressman Davis took part in the Tennessee Valley Corridor Annual Science and Technology summit held this year in Huntsville. The Department of Defense, Department of Energy, NASA, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Arnold Engineering Development Center, along with representatives from leading aerospace industries took part in this three-day long summit.
