Rep. Davis Visits 278th at Camp Shelby September 01, 2004

On August 30th I had the opportunity to visit our troops in the 278th Armored Calvary Regiment who are currently stationed at Camp Shelby in Mississippi. I am very happy to report that our men and women in uniform were in good spirits. I was impressed with their commitment and dedication to serve this country. Each soldier that I talked with expressed the energy and patriotism needed to encourage democracy abroad by promoting strong American values and American ideals.

Over the next few weeks our brave soldiers in the 278th will be traveling to Iraq. From what I've been told they will be gone for as long as a year and in some circumstances maybe even longer. I know that God will be protecting them from those who wish to harm us and undermine democracy.

I encourage families of the servicemen and women to contact any of my district offices if they have questions or need help with military situations. The offices are located in Jamestown, Rockwood, Columbia, and McMinnville.

I would like to close by asking all of those listening to offer a prayer and ask for a special blessing each night, each morning and through the day as we pray for our troops and their families.
