DAVIS BRINGS "HELP IS HERE EXPRESS" TO DISTRICTMarch 01, 2006

COLUMBIA, TN -- U.S. Rep. Lincoln Davis joined with the Partnership for Prescription Assistance, a growing national program which helps patients access prescription medicines and raises awareness of patient assistance programs, by bringing the traveling education center known as “Help is Here Express” to the 4th Congressional District for three regional events.

Since its launch last April, the program -- sponsored by America’s pharmaceutical research companies working with doctors, pharmacists, health care providers and community groups -- has matched more than 1.5 million patients nationally, 110,500 in Tennessee and over 8,400 in the 4th District.

Congressman Davis was on hand to provide assistance and answer questions during the two day bus tour.

"The Partnership for Prescription Assistance has been successful in matching uninsured or underinsured Tennesseans to patient assistance programs that may help them get medicines at an affordable price," said Davis.

Through its toll-free number (1-888-477-2669) and user-friendly web site (www.pparx.org), the Partnership for Prescription Assistance is the only program that provides a single point of access to more than 475 public and private patient assistance programs, including more than 180 programs offered by pharmaceutical companies. These programs are available to all who qualify regardless of age.

More than 70 national groups, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, Easter Seals, American Cancer Society, and United Way of America, as well as a fast-growing list of state and local organizations, are working with America’s pharmaceutical companies to spread the word about the program.
