DAVIS URGES FARMERS WHO SUFFERED CROP LOSS DUE TO RECENT FREEZE TO CONTACT LOCAL FSAApril 11, 2007

-- U.S. Rep. Lincoln Davis is encouraging farmers who suffered a crop loss due to the recent freeze to contact their local Farm Service Agency as soon as possible to inquire if they are eligible for disaster assistance.

Davis is alerting farmers, especially those without crop insurance, about a tight time line in which farmers may be able to seek help under the Non-insurable Crop Disaster Assistance Program. Farmers have fifteen days following a disaster to contact the FSA and fill out the requisite forms to be able to apply for the program.

Davis is Tennessee's sole representative on the U.S. House Agriculture Committee.
