WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Rep. Lincoln Davis released the following statement in celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week.
"May 6-12 is Teacher Appreciation Week. While we should celebrate and express gratitude toward our teacher’s everyday, it’s fitting that we honor them with this special week."
"We all have heard numerous stories of teachers going above and beyond the normal classroom activities of teaching basic arithmetic, science, history, reading, and writing. Teachers are fostering a passion for learning and expanding the boundaries of possibility across the country."
"Most teachers enter this noble profession not for the pay check, which I think is not nearly enough, they see the potential in children to do great things no matter the socio-economic background. Even more, the amount of time, both private and public, and personal money devoted to their jobs underscores their dedication. Having three educators in my family I know the biggest reward is seeing a student excel beyond their school years. However, it wouldn’t hurt to say thank you and pat them on the back now and again."
