Congressman Davis To Host Annual Procurement and Grant SeminarJuly 22, 2008

U.S. Rep. Lincoln Davis will host his annual procurement and grant seminar August 11-12 at the Manchester-Coffee County Convention Center. The conference will focus on the availability of federal funding and procurement opportunities along with grant writing workshops for 4th District small businesses and local governments. Hosted through the UT Center of Industrial Services and the TVA, this year's theme is "Working Together to Enhance our Communities."

"This is a great opportunity for business owners of all kinds but especially small business owners or those just starting out," said Congressman Davis. "This is the kind of boost a small business owner could use to seize on this opportunity for funding or procurement of government contracts that are abundantly available but not widely known."

The two-day conference will feature speakers from nearly 30 funding agencies and non-profits. Representatives ranging from agencies such as the Appalachian Regional Commission, USDA Rural Development, US Department's of Homeland Security, Energy, Justice, and NASA to name a few will be talking about business and grant opportunities. There will likewise be presentations from the Foundation Center and Southeast Community Capital focusing on how to write grant proposals and obtain venture capital. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce will also be on hand discussing how to make the chamber work for you.
