Congressman Lincoln Davis Appointed to House Committee on Science and TechnologyJanuary 22, 2009

Today, Congressman Davis announced that he sought and was granted a waiver to serve on the House Committee on Science and Technology for the 111th Congress.

"From the moon landing to the work at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Arnold Air Force Base, and The University of Tennessee Space Institute, our country has always been a leader in scientific and technological frontiers," said Congressman Davis. "I am excited to take on this responsibility and help move America forward towards its next great achievement."

The Committee on Science and Technology has jurisdiction over much of the non-defense federal research and development programming. The committee has exclusive jurisdiction over NASA, the National Science Foundation, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and others. The committee also has jurisdiction over research and development at the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Homeland Security and others.

Additionally, as a member of the Science Committee, Congressman Davis will serve on the Subcommittee on Energy and Environment, as well as the Subcommittee for Investigations and Oversight. Congressman Davis previously served on the House Committee on Science and Technology during his first two terms in the House. Davis is also a member of the House Appropriations Committee. This is Congressman Davis's fourth term in office.
