Davis Meets with General Motors CEO Frederick HendersonMay 5, 2009

Members of Congress representing Districts that are closely linked to the future of General Motors (GM) met today with the company's Chief Executive, Frederick Henderson, to hear his plans to revive the company and to give their input on the industrial icon's future.

"Nothing is certain, but I am encouraged by the efforts of Mr. Henderson and leaders in Washington to preserve General Motors and the people they employ," said Congressman Lincoln Davis. "We made a strong case for the preservation of Spring Hill's facility, and asked that the company make decisions that are in the best interest of the industry."

Congressman Davis expressed his belief that the Spring Hill plant is well positioned to stay open, noting the plant's recent renovations, positive relationship with its workforce, and recent launch of the Chevrolet Traverse, which was the best-selling crossover Sport Utility Vehicle in the United States last month.

"The nearly 3,500 workers at Spring Hill's plant and the nearly 49,000 workers at the 143 auto suppliers in my Congressional District are at the forefront of my mind in these discussions," said Davis.
